This week we got together to dye some eggs with these beautiful natural egg dyes found at the Migros (We got these at the Claraplatz Migros, 8 Chf per package). With interesting ingredients like sandalwood, flower petals and walnut shells we were happy to play as the kitchen was filled with rich pigments and interesting smells - sometimes nice and sometimes, well, interesting. Take a peek at the process and let us know if you get inspired to get dyeing!
FYI: I checked my neighborhood Migros and they did NOT have the dyes. I will also check the Einkaufsparadies triple-M MMMigros and let you know if I get lucky.
I have used natural dyes for eggs before....beets, onion skins, greens. Nana taught me how to dye eggs with onion skins. She would (then I'd) dig around in the produce area collecting skins just dye eggs in the spring. I love the deep rich colors. So rich looking. Mum
kay, they sell onion skins by the bags here around easter time JUST for egg dying - so neat that nana did that, as well. i'd love to try it some time, perhaps you can show me. ;) i'd love that!
